We started when Unholy Obscurity was still called “When Death Calls” and was a Death Metal Band. DFW was started because we wanted to create Black Metal, when Unholy Obscurity shifted into Blackened Death, DFW disbanded. We tried to shift into Dark Metal / Depressive Black and produced 1-2 demos under “Kaisergruft” - never released.

We started this Band as a Metalcore Cover-Band when we were all very young. After writing one song it was clear that we didn't really want to write Metalcore. After a very weird conversation we noticed that actually NOBODY ever wanted a Metalcore band, we were just doing it "because I thought you wanted a Metalcore Band??" We settled on Death Metal, released one song and played our first ever live show. After some VERY BRUTAL discussions about how much I hate the name, we decided to rename this Band to Unholy Obscurity.

As my brother started dragging me to more and more Slamming Brutal Death Metal concerts in our local scene we started dreaming about our own band. Instrumentals were 100% me, this was the first time Deadringer did vocals for anything. I still remember laughing at him after out of nowhere he said "Hey I want to do vocals" - as if this was just a thing you can learn in a week. Turns out you can, the motherfucker actually did it. Album was recorded like a month after he started doing Vocals, that bastard. He still wants to revive Babykiller, maybe someday
